The origin of the Craft of making terracotta toys in Pondicherry is still an unrevealed mystery- although excavations in Arikamedu have brought to light the terracotta toys surpassing in beauty even those of the Satavahanas. Making Terracotta toys is an old traditional craft practiced by the People of Pondicherry way back to ancient period. The terracotta toys made by combination of purified red earth and china clay. The craftsmen make terracotta toys, painted with water colour and toys of paper pulp. A variety of naturalistic figures and toys representing the different Hindu and Christian deities and models of animals, birds, fruits and vegetables are also made.

The Cost of the items will be as per the size and model and ranges from Rs.10/- to Rs.10,000/-
