Motivation Of Unemployed Persons To Start Self-employed Enterprises

The scheme was launched during the year 2006 by the State Government with a view to encourage self-employment among the youth in manufacturing and service activities largely in support of the growing economy of the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Eligibility

1. Age: As per the existing norms of banks

2. Education: No formal education is required. However the applicant should know to read and write fluently

3. Family Income: No limit on the family income

4. Residence: Should be a permanent resident of the area for at least 3 years

5. Activities Covered: All economically viable service and industrial activities. Mechanized laundry, Beauty Parlour (Saloon), Tailoring units and Setting up of Hygienic Tea / Coffee Stalls are presently encouraged under the scheme

6. Quantum of Loan: Ranging from Rs.10,000/- to Rs.2,00,000/-

7. Subsidy:

a) 50 % of the project cost excluding preliminary and pre-operative expenses for projects not exceeding Rs.10,000/- 

b) 25% of the project cost excluding preliminary and pre-operative expenses subject to a maximum of 25,000/- for project cost exceeding Rs.10,000/- but less than Rs.2,00 lakhs

8. Interest: Normal bank rate of interest on date shall be charged.

10. Submission of filled in application: Can be submitted on any working day during office hours.

 11. Conduct of Interview and forwarding of application to Bank:Filled in applications received by this office will be scrutinized and called for interview once in a quarter. The application of successful candidates will be forwarded to the respective banks for further action. 

12. Disbursement of Loan: The disbursement of loan will be done no sooner the beneficiary completes the formalities required by the banks in respect of his / her project
